Carol and Gabriel met in September 2010, where they both attended the Brentwood Freshman Center in Brentwood, NY. Although they didn’t have any classes together, they ran in the same social circles and sparked their own friendship based on similar interests, values, and their Salvadorian culture. By the end of the school year, they had become even closer. They often partied together on the weekends, where Carol and the"Gooseman" (IYKYK) partied until it was time for work the next day.
As the summer was coming to a close, Gabriel realized he had developed a crush on Carol (unbeknownst to her). He wanted to tell her but the new school year was about to start and he didn’t see the point in telling her if he wasn’t going to be seeing her as often anymore. Luckily, destiny brought them together again and they had History class together with Ms. Razza, and the rest is well, history ;)
Even thought that was the only time they both had a class together, they had developed a strong enough bond to start spending more time out of school together. They enjoyed doing all kinds of things together, especially getting Ralph’s Italian Ices on Main St. in Bayshore and attending musical festivals where they bonded over their love of music and favorite artists and DJ’s such as Afrojack and Tiesto.
After all this time of fun and shared experiences, Gabriel finally poured his heart out to Carol and expressed how he felt about her; how he thought she was perfect for him; how she was the queso to his pupusa, the pan dulce to his cafe. Exciting, right? WRONG. Unfortunately, Carol was not interested in him at that time. However, they agreed to remain good friends.
Fortunately, they did remain good friends, even as distance eventually played a role. Gabriel wound up moving to San Salvador and Carol had already rejected him so he thought it was over for good and they would just remain good friends. Luckily for him, Carol happened to travel to visit her own family in San Salvador and reached out to him to grab dinner and catch up. Needless to say, he jumped at the opportunity.
Carol invited Gabriel to have pupusas with her and her family at El Boqueron and the first thing Carol said to him when she saw him was "You look good!” He replied, " I know”, and they both laughed. Gabriel made such a good impression on Carol's family at dinner that they invited him everywhere during her stay; They visited the Lago de Coatepeque, El Tunco and even went to watch El Salvador vs. Honduras for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Estadio Cuscatlan where they even had a beer thrown at them, It was such a great time!
Carol’s time in El Salvador had come to an end but her trip ignited a different and special spark between her and Gabriel this time. They started texting and FaceTiming each other every night and soon they realized that the universe must have brought them together once again for a reason and they began to contemplate the idea of dating. At that time, Gabriel was getting ready to leave to Qatar indefinitely and was faced with a decision: a relationship with his soulmate or moving to the other side of the world. He chose Carol instantly and cancelled all his plans of moving.
Carol made just as much effort and went back to visit him two months after seeing him with her family. They stayed at Garten hotel at El Zonte and Gabriel wasted no time asking Carol to be his girlfriend. Only this time, she happily said yes. As time went on, their relationship grew stronger and stronger. They have so many shared interests, build each other up, and are silly and act like two little kids having the time of their lives when they’re together. They also have unwavering support from their respective families and friends, which is the most important thing to them aside from each other.
Fast forward two years later and Gabriel had another very important question for Carol: Would she make him the happiest man in the world and marry him? To which she said yes, and here we are!! Thank you to everyone for being a part of our journey together and we can’t wait to celebrate our Wedding Day with you all!
