Engagement story told by Truett

As our relationship progressed, and we knew that God was leading us toward marriage, I began to plan a proposal that would mean something to both of us. The Lord worked out the details for Faith to return to Florida during Christmas, providing me the opportunity to propose. As I began to plan, I wanted to choose a place with some significance; and so, I chose to propose in the church where my parents were married and where I was dedicated.

So on December 28, Faith and I went hiking at the Florida Caverns State Park. Afterward, we went out for lunch. Just before we arrived, I snuck away and contacted a co-worker at the Sheriff’s Office, requesting him to call me during lunch to insist that I come to work. Just a couple minutes prior, my Grandmother invited Faith to go get her nails done. This part was totally unplanned. So while Faith got her nails done, and she thought I was at work, I was able to go to the church and prepare.

We went to a dressy dinner that afternoon. And after dinner, I asked Faith to come to church with me to meet my parents. There, I surprised her with a video with all of our memories together accompanied by some of our favorite songs. I then proposed, and she enthusiastically said, “Yes!” We then ended the night with a dance followed by engagement pictures.

We are now enjoying planning our wedding and cannot wait until June 1st!
