"I remember the first time I saw Garrett Beck. It was the summer of 2007 and I was about to be a Freshman in highschool. My Friend Jarzi and I were standing in line at Cherry Street Creamery in Canal Fulton Ohio. I looked in the line ahead of me and saw a short, prepubescent kid jumping around on a skateboard while his friend ordered for him. A lady from behind the window yelled to the boy, "There's no skateboarding allowed in this parking lot". He said "okay", and skated away. I thought I'd never see him again but I remember liking him instantly. I can't place why. He was shorter than me, and technically only a middle schooler. Maybe he was a "bad boy"? Maybe I thought he was a funny little shit. Who knows.
I met him again later in the year on Jarzi's bus. He was a goof. I have a picture of him with a backpack on backwards and zipped under his hoodie "party boying" down the bus ile. During the school year we became great friends. The year went on.
I began to like him more than a friend, and I had no idea how to express this to him. Once a group of friends of ours were running around a friends house's backyard where they had an apple tree. I decided I was going to make a move. I picked up an apple and decided I was going to hit him with it and it was going to be a cute accident. I was nervous, so before I pitched it at him I yelled "sorry" first. Realizing my mistake I chucked it as fast, and inevitably as hard as I could at the back of his head, exploding the apple and dropping poor Garrett to the ground.
In the summer of 2008 he asked me to be his girlfriend despite that. Every time I would see his guitar case in front of the house we all hung out at I would loose my little mind because I knew that meant Garrett was there. "
