Kelly and Nate’s love story began in 2017 in Columbia, SC when Kelly, a medical school student at University of South Carolina, and Nate, an Army officer attending Finance Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Jackson, both happened to swipe right on Bumble.

After two weeks of Nate’s bad texting but persistence to meet up, Kelly finally said ok to Sunday brunch. Nate being new to South Carolina allowed Kelly to pick the restaurant, Bourbon. Here is where Nate learned of Kelly’s obsession with sweet potato hash, and Kelly learned that Nate may not like southern grits. Here Kelly also learned that Nate would be moving shortly to Italy and stationed there for three years. The news gave Kelly pause, but by the end of the date both were smitten and excited for the next.

Over the next three months Kelly and Nate would enjoy several adventures together. A couple trips to Charleston with Nate’s Army friends and to see Kelly’s hometown, several trips to Kaminsky’s Desert Bar to fulfill Nate’s sweet tooth, runs on the Columbia Riverwalk, and numerous others.

A fun filled road trip to Washington D. C. ended with a romantic evening on a rooftop overlooking the Capital, some mini desserts, and a bottle of wine. (Recreated when Nate proposed to Kelly on November 20, 2018 on top of the Wentworth Mansion in Charleston, SC). It was at this point that Kelly and Nate decided to officially commit to a relationship filled with distance and FaceTime.

Now, after three years of living 4,709 miles apart and several adventures around Europe and America together, Kelly and Nate are excited to tie the knot and couldn’t be more excited to start their new adventure together.
