The Adventures of Dan and Lisa

Love at first cross-eyed sight

Dan slid into Lisa's DM's on Hinge, responding to a rather odd answer to a prompt. Lisa loved the funny comment Dan responded with. The two were destined to be two weirdos in love since day one. (Dan's comment cannot be shared for confidentiality reasons)

Jolly Together

Dan and Lisa planned on having their first date at Ale Mary's in Royal Oak, but it was far too busy. They settled on Jolly Pumpkin (R.I.P), and surprisingly had a pretty fun time. Both were ready to give up on dating after numerous bad dates, but Lisa's mom convinced her not to cancel plans and to give this guy a shot (Thanks!). Legend has it, Lisa knew she was going to marry Dan after the first date.

Dan and Lisa planned on having their first date at Ale Mary's in Royal Oak, but it was far too busy. They settled on Jolly Pumpkin (R.I.P), and surprisingly had a pretty fun time. Both were ready to give up on dating after numerous bad dates, but Lisa's mom convinced her not to cancel plans and to give this guy a shot (Thanks!). Legend has it, Lisa knew she was going to marry Dan after the first date.

This was their first picture together as a (somewhat) couple at Tetyana and Sean's holiday party. Lisa drank a lot of Christmas punch that night.

New Year's Resolution...To Become Official

Their first NYE together. Lisa bought a really pretty dress to see if she could convince Dan that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and in turn, decide to make it official. It didn't quite work out as planned, not yet anyway.

Niagra Falling in Love

Lisa and Dan went on their first mini adventure together to Canada to get a section of countertop for Dan's kitchen. Not an ideal reason to take your girl on a trip but nonetheless was a reason to get away.

Dan met Lisa's family when he attended her brother's wedding. Dan wasn't expecting Lisa to have such a big family, but fit right in. Dan first told Lisa he loved her on this night and asked her to be his "official" girlfriend the following day.

Six Feet

Shortly after becoming official, in mid-March, the pandemic began. This was not ideal for a new couple who wanted to spend each day together, but they made it work. It was a crazy time...Dan's hair grew so long that he needed a headband (pictured), and Lisa had to continue to work for the City of Detroit when almost everything closed down.

Two Dummies and a Tarp

Lisa and Dan went on their first long road trip together to Shenandoah National Park in the Appalachian Mountains. It was much colder than they expected. They had mostly packed summer and fall clothes with no hats or gloves. Dan used his ingenuity and removed the tarp from under the tent and used it to insulate the bedding. This trick worked and they survived the cold nights.

Van-essa Comes Home

Dan and Lisa had a good time on their previous road trip, but decided they didn't want to sleep with a tarp anymore. They drove down to Illinois where Dan purchased Van-essa to build her out into a camper van.

The stupidest thing ever

Lisa and Dan took Max to Hocking Hills for his first hiking adventure. Lisa and Dan didn't plan for the icy conditions but braved the trails anyway without crampons. Max had to be carried most of the way due to the ice and cliffs on the trail. Lisa fell on her butt numerous times and stated that this was, quote, "the stupidest thing we have ever done."

These are just more photos to show how dangerous it was to walk this hike without the proper gear, while carrying an almost full-grown Max (40 pounds). LOL Max was exhausted when we came home (as were we) and snuggled on up after a warm bath.

Flights and Panic Attacks: Part II

Lisa and Dan went to another beautiful destination wedding for Brad and Brooke in Mexico! The two were smart this time around and calmed Lisa's nerves with pre-flight breakfast shots. However, on the way home on just a short layover from Chicago to Detroit, the turbulence was so bad that Lisa's panicking scared Dan, and really scared other people on the flight. One strong drink got her on the ground peacefully (If we were meant to fly, God would have given us wings. Am I right? -Lisa).

Cheers to the Past, the Present, and the Future

These stories are just a few of the highlights of our life together so far. Since we met at the end of 2019, we have also celebrated FIFTEEN weddings of friends and family (participating in four), became an aunt/uncle to five new kiddos, watched many of our friends become mothers and fathers, obtained new career opportunities, had many other van adventures, and created priceless memories with the people we love.


We are excited to start this new journey together and are ready for a lifetime of more adventures. We are incredibly lucky and grateful to have such great friends and family like YOU to celebrate life with! We cannot wait to be surrounded by so much love when we say, "I do" on 08/31/2024!
