You are here today because a man and a woman fell in love. Thats the simple truth in a complicated story.
Chris and I met through a mutual friend 4 years ago at the beginning of COVID. Thank goodness it was before everything shut down, as we met at Planet Fitness. He had agreed to train me just as he had trained our mutual friend. We did not know our worlds would collide and change our trajectories forever. Thats the simple truth in a complicated story.
I fell in love with a man who brings me great joy, peace, laughter and the purest of love. Chris is easy to love. We live each day to the fullest extent, no matter where we are, or what we are doing. He is home. There is never a work day in which I dont rush to get to him at the end of the day. This is the simple truth in a complicated story.
I am marrying a man who makes me feel like Im the most important aspect of his life. He always strives to be present in the moment, our couple moments, and our family moments. This is a simple truth in a complicated story.
Speaking of family, Chris has two grown children, Bre and Ian, who are in stairstep to my three, Madison, Nathan and Caleb. He also has 9 year old Rose. I am thankful for this new role of bonus mom to help raise, nurture and love her. (Ive never been a fan of the term step-anything.)
We also have grandchildren, Makenna and Jonathan on my side. Noah and his newborn sister, Amelia Rose, on Chris’s side. We have the hope of more to come. This is the simple truth in a complicated story.
Soon I will be married to a man who is exceptionally humble, smart as well as wise, funny, and exceedingly thoughtful. Dare I say sexy? He is the joy of my life. This is the simple truth in a complicated story.
Blended families can be complicated, but we’ve been very fortunate. We are grateful to our grown children for loving us and accepting us. For giving us grace to start over. They have allowed a complicated story to become a simple truth. A woman and a man fell in love and are now getting married.
Tuesday, March 26th.
It was typical Chris. Simple. Spur of the moment-seemingly, but actually thought out and full of
tiny significant details. Significant to my heart and his.
It was a Tuesday after work surprise. Had to be a Tuesday. He picked OUR day. Weekends were not an option for the first months of our relationship. Flowers and champagne- he liked surprising me. Still does. A shared Nooki bowl- probably the first restaurant we went to together in Stillwater. Watching the sun set- he knows how much I love a sunset. Dancing under a streetlight- the same one as the first time we danced under a streetlight.
Several attempts were made at taking engagement pictures. First we were at Boomer Lake, across the street from our home. Some were taken in the Philbrook Gardens in Tulsa. We also went to the Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City.
The official engagement pics were taken by Bre (Hughey) Edwards during our second, and very recent, trip to see Rich and Bre and their gorgeous babies. The beautiful landscape is the Leasowes Park, an English Heritage Park. It is located in the town of Halesowen, Dudley, UK. She did an amazing job.
