Our Story

From Friends to Falling in Love

In story books, you read that sometimes things happen for a reason or even by chance. Some believe in fate. Some believe nothing at all. To us, many things happen for a reason. This is how we met and the multiple instances which led us to being together.

Anthony was a Sophomore at Fairmont State University living on the left wing of floor three when I started my Freshman year at Fairmont. I was living on the right wing on that same floor. I hadn't met Anthony until a month into the semester. There is a possibility we might have walked by one another a thousand times without ever realizing it, but it wasn't until I made friends with a girl within the aviation program that our paths would cross for the first time. She had begged me to attend an aviation party that evening because she did not want to be the only girl there in a sea of boys. I had no interest in going. Being in an male dominated aviation program was hard, saying no to her was not an option. It was late that night and Anthony hadn't said a word to me, he claims now that it was due to fear, but he had no issue coming to my rescue when he saw another boy within the program giving me a hard time. This started our friendship; at least mine.

Anthony has said from the beginning that the moment he laid eyes on me he knew he had fallen for me. I had no interest back then. We were soon placed in the same music appreciation class by chance. Anthony took this time to try and impress me with his humor and eventually to get to know me better. This lead to longer conversations and soon, our friendship grew. Anthony attempted to make his way from the box I had put him in often. He offered to buy my flowers during a Walmart trip which I declined. He fixed my car window in the freezing cold and made it known that if I ever needed him he would come running. He has always been a gentlemen and I was blind to his kindness simply telling people that he was just being nice.

Soon, my mother came to campus for homecoming weekend. She knew from those two days on campus that he had developed deep feelings for me. She talks to this day about how he would look around making sure I was safe and the look in his eyes when he would look at me told her all. She eventually pulled me into the hallway of Bryant Place before leaving telling me to give him a chance. That if I let him in even for a moment I wouldn't regret it. She was right.

From that moment on, it was history.
