Garrett and I met on a chilly December night back in 2019 in College Station, TX. I was in my sophomore year at Texas A&M in the middle of finals and he was in town visiting some friends while he was on leave before he shipped off to Japan for 3.5 years.

On December 10th (yes I remember the exact date!), we matched on Bumble. We talked for a little bit and we met that night. The moment I saw him, I knew he was the one, but with just 12 days before he would be moving to Japan, I knew a future wasn't likely and this would probably be the only time we saw each other.

We kept texting back and forth for the next few days and Garrett made it clear he would like to see me again, so we met in College Station again for the final time on December 19th (3 days before he moved to Japan). We spent the entire day together and I was heartbroken when we had to say goodbye because it felt like the end of a love story that had hardly began. We still continued to talk and text each other and while he was on the plane on his way to Japan, he told me he was interested in pursuing a relationship with me, even though it would definitely come with its challenges due to our distance.

Well, here we are 5 years later, engaged, living together with a dog, beginning our careers, looking for a home to start and build our family, and planning a wedding. We made it through years of long distance, even with COVID trying to keep us apart, so I know we will make it through the hardships every couple has to face as long as we trust in the Lord and His plan for us.

I know it's not a traditional love story, but our love has blossomed into something so beautiful and we cannot wait to spend our lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Dyer!
