Liv and Zack have had mutual friends for most of high school, but the stars didn't align until Liv invited Zack for a bible study at her house with their friends, Marcus and Mariam. After that night, Liv could tell Zack might be interested, so she got his Snapchat and asked him to hangout. Through their many messages, Zack mentioned how he loves Christmas lights and saw some (it was early November, so this was unconventional). Liv suggested going to see them together, and they were actually a lonely strand of lights on one tree. Liv thought this was cute. Eventually, they ended up making official, and the rest is history.

Zack had known he was going to propose for a long time (try 2 years!). It was a matter of when timing made sense. Once fall of 2023 approached, he knew the time had come (fall is Liv’s favourite season!). Zack managed to order the ring (his birthstone, emerald) off a custom Etsy jeweler. Once the ring came in (after an anxious wait), he decided better now then never. It just so happened to be the same weekend where, three years ago, they had gone on their very first date to Spoon and Fork, the sushi restaurant. Zack decided to call back to this first date, and made a reservation for lunch on November 6, 2023. That day, Zack took Liv out for a day of “Liv’s Favourite Things.” This included church, coffee, shopping, and sushi. Once their nostalgic date at Spoon and Fork was done, they went on a beautiful walk through the woods. There, in the peace of the fall colours in the forest, he got on one knee, and the rest is history!

Honestly, both Liv and Zack have been certain they were each other “the one” since they said I love you in the first three months of their relationship. Despite this, Liv was in school and they decided to meet some milestones beforehand, including dating for a few years, graduating, and feeling stable.

Liv’s story of how she decided she was ready took place in August of 2022. Liv's brother Colin got married to his soulmate, Ruth, and at their wedding, Liv was a bridesmaid and took along Zack. Zack was the most generous, helpful, selfless person at the wedding, helping at every turn and being a delightful guest. Hannah and Emily-Kate Gray (Liv’s lifelong friends) came up to her at the end of the night and boasted about how amazing Zack was. Then, Liv knew he was going to make an amazing father, husband, and life partner.
