Our story began with a profound calling to embark on a short-term mission trip, an experience that would forever change the course of our lives. In January 2024, Trevor felt an unmistakable urge to serve, although he was uncertain about where his first mission would take him. However, he had known the leader of a mission trip to Costa Rica for several years, and after much consideration, he decided to join his group. Although he was familiar only with a handful of participants, Trevor was excited about the opportunity to meet new people who shared his mindset and passion for service in a meaningful way.

Around the same time, Rachel experienced a similar tug at her heart. She had initially signed up for a mission trip to Uganda, but when circumstances didn’t align as she had hoped, she felt led to join the Costa Rica trip instead. With no prior connections among the participants, Rachel welcomed the chance to meet fellow attendees from her church and connect over their shared desire to make a difference.

As we found ourselves in Costa Rica, we learned invaluable lessons about faith, humility, and gratitude. We gained a renewed appreciation for our blessings in the United States and discovered the power of companionship through the shared experience of our first mission trip. The challenges and joys we faced together forged a strong bond between us, setting the foundation for something deeper.

A few weeks after our return, Trevor reached out to Rachel, eager to maintain the connection they had formed. He asked if he could accompany her to the campus she attended, and at the end of the service, he invited her to brunch. To his delight, she agreed, marking the start of a new chapter in their relationship. From that day on, we made it a tradition to attend service together every Sunday, spending quality time enjoying each other’s company and growing closer.

After a few dates, it became clear to Trevor that he wanted to explore a more profound commitment. Our date nights transformed into cherished time together, filled with laughter, meaningful conversations, and countless memories. We began to discuss our future and envisioned a life together, realizing we both yearned for more than just being boyfriend and girlfriend.

In prayer and reflection, we sought to understand God’s guidance and timing in our relationship. Our conversations evolved as we openly shared our hopes and dreams, ultimately leading to the critical moment when Trevor knew he wanted to ask the big question. One beautiful day, he got down on one knee and proposed to Rachel, who joyfully accepted, saying yes to forever.

Now, as we prepare to commit our lives to one another in front of God and our families, we are filled with gratitude and excitement. We trust that our journey is guided by a divine plan, believing wholeheartedly that God’s timing and His purpose for us are always perfect.
