Update and Reminders!
Hi Friends and Family!
Our wedding is just around the corner and we cannot wait to see you and celebrate with you. We’ve got a few updates and reminders. Please read carefully.
Cue Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic”…
There is a Cal Berkeley football game on our wedding day. The ceremony venue is just above the football field, and Stadium Rim Way will be CLOSED. There will be NO PARKING at the venue and navigating Berkeley on game day is notoriously difficult. Even if you plan to ride share, the road closures will make getting to the venue extremely challenging.
BUT WE HAVE A PLAN:
1. Instead of meeting at the Ceremony Space at 2:30, please meet at the Reception Space (267 Scofield Dr. Moraga, CA 94556) at 2:15PM.
2. A shuttle bus will drive everyone to the ceremony. The bus will be leaving at 2:30PM.
3. After the ceremony, the shuttle bus will bring you back to the reception. It will be leaving around 3:45PM.
THE GOOD NEWS:
- Less driving for you
- Your ride will already be at the reception space
- You will have a drink (yes, alcohol if you wish) and a snack for the bus
- No need to worry about navigating Berkeley and/or parking
You get to kick back and enjoy the day!
- You can leave anything you want at the reception so that you don’t have to carry it with you to the ceremony!
IF YOU STILL PLAN TO UBER DIRECTLY TO THE CEREMONY:
Please let us know. We need to know whether or not the bus needs to wait for you! If you do Lyft to the ceremony, there will still be room on the bus for you to get back to the reception. No one gets left behind!!!
Other things to note!
Reception:
Uber - If you plan to ride share to or from the reception, getting a Lyft or an Uber from Moraga tends to be challenging because it’s the suburbs. After the reception, a few of our neighbors will be running a casual shuttle with their personal cars to take guests from the reception space to Lafayette or Orinda Bart, which are right off the freeway. It will be easier to get a Lyft from there or just take Bart if you don’t have luck at the reception!
Smoking - we will have a designated smoking area below the oak tree in the backyard. Please stick to that area if you plan to smoke!
Weather - the reception is outside, and the weather is projected to be a little cooler than expected. Please make sure you bring a jacket as it will get a little chilly as the sun goes down. *Hot tip: dancing will keep you warm:)
The ground may also be a bit uneven. There will be grass, mulch, and stones throughout the backyard. Just be mindful when thinking about footwear. Sarah at some point will probably be barefoot, and you are more than welcome to do the same!
WELCOME BARBECUE:
Adam Streeter is hosting a barbecue for us on the beach in Alameda, a mile from our apartment, the evening before the wedding. It will be EXTREMELY casual. We’re talking charcoal grills and wooden picnic tables. We will provide impossible burgers, beef burgers, and chips and fruit. BYOB. It will likely be windy and chilly. Dress warm and comfortable. It’s a chance for everyone to say hi in a more casual setting and have some fun before the big day! If this sounds less appealing, please do not hesitate to change your RSVP. We will look forward to seeing you the next day! :)
Car safety:
While you’re here for the weekend, do not leave ANYTHING in your car. No luggage, no technology, not even in a covered trunk. It does not matter if it’s cheap stuff. Covered trunks are not guaranteed safe either. People use a device to scan vehicles for electronics. Out of state and rental vehicles are unfortunately being highly targeted. Please be careful!
Covid
Love is not the only thing in the air! If you are concerned about illness, please mask up and keep your bus window down. We will have hand sanitizer everywhere so please use it!
If you are experiencing Covid symptoms, we ask that you stay home. Thank you for understanding.
Thanks for reading and we can’t wait to see you soon,
Love,
Sarah and David
