Ty and Val met while each out one night with longtime friends. Both not expecting anything going into the night, it was an instant connection. After hanging out again the next night with friends, they soon had their first one on one date (5/4/19). Ty took Val to a local spot overlooking the Delaware River with his family dog Koda in tow.

Not knowing when they met that Ty would be leaving NJ for the next seven months to work in the mountains of Vermont, Val assumed Ty would want his freedom. They had only known each other a few weeks. Despite all this, they decided to be exclusive even if it was long distance. What followed was many texts, calls, and miles on the road visiting each other. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it!

Ty eventually came home and made the hour drive to Val’s apartment almost every weekend to see her. He was great at finding a fun trail to hike or a secluded fishing spot. Val liked to make big breakfasts, which usually included a couple mimosas. Some weekends they would head out on a romantic getaway, or visit family and friends; others they would stay in watching sports or a movie. They still take turns picking movies, but both agree on a war movie, western, or Rambo.

After two years, they moved into their own place and made a home together. On New Years Eve 2022, Ty took Val to the location of their first date and proposed! She of course said yes, forever.

It means so much to both of us to celebrate our love with those we love! See you on 9/20/24!
