Kristin and I met our freshman year of college through friends in Fort Collins. While her drink of choice was Captain Morgan and mine was Jägermeister, we were instant friends. She was the life of the party and also the most genuine, loyal person…. A perfect best friend for life!

Kristin and I have been through a lot of chapters in life together. We had an amazing time in college, I frequently visited her when she moved to San Diego, and I adored watching her become a mom to sweet Isla. While we’ve had many vacations, concerts, and dinners together, some of my most cherished memories are the late phone calls where we can have deep heart to heart, honest conversations about life.

When I first heard about “Kevy from Heavy” I knew he was someone special. She lit up talking about how perfect he was. On a trip we took together as couples, my husband and I saw how great they complimented each other and how wonderful he truly is! The addition of Lucas and Caleb created the perfect family! And then along comes Hudson!! Could there be a more amazing baby?!

I am so honored to call Kristin my best friend and to stand beside her and Kevin as they continue this beautiful, crazy life together. Matt and I can’t wait to celebrate their love in paradise!

Favorite Memory with Kevin - When Kevin came to my house in Virginia before he left for Colorado. He helped me put a new roof on my house and build an addition without a permit. Greg painted my house. Josh also helped with the illegal roof and addition on my house.

Favorite Memory With Kristin - Some of my favorite memories were when she was pregnant with Isla, and we would have our weekend dates together, going out to dinner, to the movies, shopping, watching Vanderpump, just whatever. It was so special to have all of those little moments with her when she was going through such a transformative time in her life and getting to see her become a mother over those months.

Hobbies - I am competitive as shit and play volleyball year-round. I love reading, listening to audiobooks and doing puzzles when I’m in relaxation mode and anything involving games, sports, and friends is something I want to be a part of. I also volunteer at the Denver Rescue Mission and another food-service resource, Metro Caring.

Favorite Memory With Kristin - One memorable memory is meeting Kristin for the first time while living in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Although her protective big sister pants were on, we had a fun night on the island that ended with her being pushed around (and falling out) of a shopping cart. Another special moment was finding out she was pregnant with Isla inside a little peanut jar at family dinner around the table of her townhouse. Oh, and Brad and I sneaking into her house to set up for Kevy’s engagement followed by her birthday party/blind tequila tasting that night to celebrate all things KRISTIN – so much fun!!!

Favorite Memory of Me and Kevin – Mountain biking for my first time, Kevin and I went to Green Mountain. While getting ready I showed Kevin my knee pads, which he replied, “you don’t need those,” so I took them off. At the end of the trail, I fell off my bike, I got up, caught up to Kevin and was all scratched up on my knees and arms. Once he saw me, he smiled and said, “you should’ve put your knee pads on.”

Favorite Memory with Kristin - I could write a book with all our memories!! But my favorite would have to be in February 2022, I flew out to Colorado to surprise you for your 40th birthday. We hadn't seen each other for about 2 years because of Covid. That was so hard, so surprising you was the absolute best. We cried tears of joy and had the best weekend ever!!!!

Favorite Memory with Kevin: A group of us went to visit Kevin when he was living/working in Teton National Park. Kevin was thrilled when we arrived and was eager to be our tour guide. Our first activity together was "just a short hike" to Disappointment Peak. A leisurely jaunt up to a 12,000 foot peak on the most rugged terrain I've ever seen. Kevin insisted it would be "chill," but since we had to start the hike at 3AM, something told me it would be anything but. I was right, of course. The hike lasted around 16 hours. We had no water, no food, no warm clothes, no map, no cell phones - just Kevin's innate sense of direction and flippant disposition. When we finally reached the car, I wanted to give Kevin a piece of my mind, but the joy on his face stopped me. It was obvious that our hike meant a lot to him. Either that, or he was hallucinating from dehydration.

Favorite Memory with Kevin: Going to Rocky Mountain National Park. Kevin played host to me and my family and took us deep into the high country. We tent camped under a full moon and the next night stayed in a yurt!

Hobbies - Being outside! Snowboarding, hiking, concerts, boating/wakeboarding, dirt bikes and Harleys.

Favorite Travel Destination - The mountains. Most of my travel for fun is to go visit a new mountain to snowboard.

Favorite Memory of Me and Kristin - The LoHi days. There was a good few years that we hung out every single weekend. The standing Friday text to see what we wanted to do. We had so much dang fun!

Hobbies – Basically anything that gets me outside, but my favorites are mountain biking, AT skiing, alpine skiing, hiking and camping. I love a good outdoor concert and farmers markets are one of my favorite things.

Favorite Memory with Kristin – There are so many spanning a lot of different lives… We had a blast in college and in the Denver days, but my favorite memories with Kristin are bringing our two families together for our weekend mountain getaways. I adore all of the Smith’s and consider them family!

Favorite Memory with Kevin - A few weeks before leaving for college, Kevin and Brad took me through segments of the Appalachian Trail in the Shenandoah Valley National Park.

Our destination for the hike was a mountain cabin from the early 1900’s. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ivan intervened.

Storms had pushed into Northern Virginia leaving the trail un-hikable and the roads un-drivable. We spent night one in Kevin’s early 1990’s Ford Escort Wagon.

We made the most of the night stranded in the FreshCort drinking beer, telling stories, listening to Old and in the Way and Modest Mouse. It was its own adventure highlighted by a few visits from Park Rangers tapping on our window.

The storm cleared the next day and we made the muddy hike to Corbin Cabin where we enjoyed a few nights together out in the wilderness.

Favorite Memory with Kevin - Road trip, Summer of ‘99: Just Wendy, Kevin & I on the open road, livin out of the van for a month. From Ohio to the Rocky Mountains, Badlands, Redwoods, Oregon backcountry, the Olympic Peninsula & back. One of the best trips ever done!!

Hobbies - Mtn Biking, Dirt Biking, and Hunting

Favorite Memory with Kevin - So many to choose from. Kevin's love for the outdoors is undeniable. I visited Kevin in Denver many times before making Colorado my home. On one of the trips in the early years of Kevin living in Colorado, a few of us flew out to visit. Kevin loves to entertain in the wilderness as most know. Kevin planned a trip to climb Longs Peak. We flew into Denver and landed in the evening and proceeded to indulge in some adult beverages. We did not plan to climb 14,259 feet coming from basically zero elevation in Cleveland on day one. Kevin however, had different plans. "Let's just go tonight!" Young, dumb, and slightly impaired we all decided to go for it. Kevin brought a friend from work and he bailed early in the hike. We continued on, dehydrated and exhausted with everyone of us dealing with headaches. The goal was to hike through the night and summit in the morning. We got to timberline and faced what felt like 100 mph winds and an ice storm. The four of us cuddled together to stay warm until the wind died down. We proceeded to successfully summit Longs Peak with smiles!
